If you need custom size acrylic sheets, rods, and tubes, we can help. If you have a project that involves injection molding, engraving, CNC routing, drilling, milling or joined pieces of plastic, we can help. With all sizes and shapes of Acrylic, Polycarbonate, Nylon, Acetal, UHMW, Vespel, Torlon, Ultem, Phenolic, Polyurethane, Polyethylene, Polypropylene and more, we can fulfill all of your custom plastic needs. Our customers use our custom cut acrylic sheets for many different purposes. One popular use is for protecting artwork while reducing glare. If a large framed picture falls with a glass frame, damage can be caused to the artwork when the glass breaks - acrylic is a much safer alternative. Some acrylic sheets can also protect photographs from harmful ultraviolet rays. A polycarbonate sheet is a great replacement for glass windows - particularly in large panes, such as in greenhouses. It's also a great alternative for a skylight or an aquarium, and it's a good insulator. There are many different uses for a polycarbonate sheet, and if you're thinking of using it as a replacement for glass, it has over 40 times the impact strength of glass and acrylic, and 20 times the impact strength of fiberglass. UHMW is Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene. It is very strong - 1" thick of UHMW can stop a .45 caliber bullet at a distance of 25 feet. It has the highest impact strength of any thermoplastic currently made. It is self-lubricating, so it's commonly used in mechanical situations where lubrication is not possible. It has many other uses, such as in medicine for joint replacement. |
